Acciona Energía operates in all renewable energy sectors. As well as developing its own installations, it also provides services to its clients. The company forms part of the Acciona Group, which, as a leader in the infrastructure, energy and water industries among others, is a pioneer in promoting sustainable development and social welfare. Acciona is a global wind energy leader, having installed 5% of total wind energy capacity worldwide. It also designs and manufacturers its own wind turbines.
Lines of activity
Acciona sells the energy it and its clients generate. It has a renewable energies control centre from which it operates and/or controls 240 wind farms with a total capacity exceeding 7,000 MW, as well as its other renewable energy installations. It also develops, constructs and operates solar thermal electric plants. In the photovoltaic sector, the company has promoted the development of so-called “solar gardens” in Spain and owns the largest plant with solar trackers in the world. Acciona operates a large number of hydroelectric plants in Spain and also has biomass and biofuel (biodiesel and bioethanol) plants in its portfolio.

– 2001. Solar gardens.
– 2002. Sangüesa biomass plant, the largest straw combustion plant in southern Europe.
– 2007. Nevada Solar One, the largest solar thermal electric plant in the world during the last 18 years.
– 2008 - AW-3000 wind turbine, 3 MW turbine on a concrete tower with blades measuring 100, 109 and 116 metres in diameter.
